Better World Cameroon is currently hosting the first Cameroon Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) training 2016. We are blessed to have an enthusiastic cross section of Cameroonians from the local community and as far away as Bertoua along with a few international participants. We are half way through the course already!
Our intention is to set up a sustainable, cooperative agribusiness incubator network for Africa. Adapting the course to Cameroonian and African perspectives, the bioregional EDE blueprint is designed to integrate tested indigenous climate adaptation, green building , agro-ecology and modern techniques of social innovation into a holistic model of sustainable development for Africa.
-Introduce curriculum and concepts from GEN, Gaia university and Gaia education resources
-Demonstrate where youth entrepreneurs fit into the broader ecosystems of agribusiness in Africa
-Distinguish types of social incubation adapted to Cameroon
-Determine the importance of youth entrepreneurship to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals
-Conceptualize ideas with participants to start their own business incubators in cooperation with Better coop
-Co-create (dragon dreaming) with Bafut community, the eco vision 2020.
The Cameroon EDE 2016 training is designed for young change makers, small and medium size enterprises, farmers, development organizations, cultural associations, local governments, professional institutions and business stakeholders wishing to increase their understanding and knowhow of the business incubation process.
About Bafut Ecovillage Project
To understand our impact on both local and world climate we need to recognize the affects of urbanization, agricultural systems and the ecosystems they depend on.
The Bafut Ecovision 2020 is an opportunity to apply indigenous local knowledge in community forums to provide alternative ideas, support local entrepreneurs, create sustainable food systems while both mitigating and transforming the community’s impact on climate. Everything we do has consequences and with knowledge, support and the will to create a positive outcome, we can make a difference.
