Cameroon EDE16 lauched Ndanifor Art & Craft as a crowdfunding platform supporting Bafut Ecovision2020 community project. The youth of Ndanifor are hoping to introduce the foreign audience to some of their local artisans and products. On the Launch Ndanifor platform, they are showing casing limited edition of traditional woven baskets and bamboo work. Ndanifor youth have also cleverly connected their artisans to work with international designers and artists during the EDE to give their products a contemporary edge.
Both Better World Cameroon and Bafut Council are committed to only offering certified ethical goods, creating a special for training and showcasing eco-friendly and sustainable product, honouring fair wage schemes, as well as addressing any child labour issues. The avant-garde center is teaching the local ‘makers’ how to use renewable energy to lower pollution in the production process; how to use eco-friendly dyes to reduce pollution of local water sources and about income generating is also working towards a World Fair Trade Organisation membership.
Ndanifor is not only about regeneration of the area, but also about preserving the Bafut heritage and ensuring its legacy of crafts continues, because its artisans are rapidly disappearing. Our hope is that on BWC website shoppers can buy ethically sourced high agric products and hand-made products Valley.
